It is general belief that frequent updated will boost your website’s ranking on Google Search and will attract links from other websites. This is true. However, let’s face it. For the majority of businesses daily updates just don’t make sense and don’t fall in line with the nature of the business. So what is the solution here and will the lack of updates hurt your company’s online exposure?
According to Vanessa Fox (author of Marketing in the Age of Google) – not necessarily. But there are a few important steps you need to go through to imrove your exposure:
- List your business on search engine maps and products sections.
- Fill out your profile completely.
- Go to Bing Places for Business, Google Places for Business and Yahoo Local online, then follow the directions. While you’re at it, check your business listing on review sites such as Yelp and address any complaints immediately, because these profile pages often rank well in search engines for business names.
What other tactics can produce mist benefit from search engines?
– Make a list of questions your customers might have and problems your business can solve for them. From that list, work on creating an editorial calendar. You will not have to update it daily (weekly would be advisable) – but posts based on crucial (for your customers) questions, will give you greater opportunities for visibility.
