CES 2014 Continued: Kurio Kids Phone. Parents rejoice!

Kurios kids phone

Looking to acknowledge the fact that kids are getting smartphones at a younger and younger age, Kurio unveiled their kid’s phone.

In addition to having an array of great kiddie features, it has something for the parents as well – parental control that will allow you to restrict phone use to certain hours of the day, and how much time is spent texting versus calling.

CES 2014 Continued: Tobii Eye Tracking Sensors

Eye tracking

Another innovative, but hopefully soon-to-be mainstream gadget was The Tobii Eye Tracking Sensor.

The sensor replaces your mouse, allowing your eyes to select the icons or links, scroll and zoom on maps, and throw boulders at bad guys (as shown in the booth’s demonstration). The response is surprisingly fluid and natural. Much as Kinnect before it, the technology is bound to get lots of attention from developers.

Consumer Electronics Show 2014 (CES): Behold the Hologram Touch Screen!

Dieplair Vapour Touch Screen

International CES, more commonly known as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), is an internationally renowned electronics and technology trade show, open to the public.

The annual show is held each January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las VegasNevada, United States.

And as the CES 2014 is over, we feel obliged to share some of the newest, “unbelieveablest” and very sci-fi innovations.

One of them is the new display technology presented by Displair, a Russian start-up company. As the name suggests, they have created an interactive touchscreen out of a wall of water vapor. (gasp!). Basically, it is a hologram!

One of the more interesting applications of Displair is in film. The technology’s creators say that they can display 3D images naturally without the need of glasses. Even more impressive, the technology could see the true return of smell-o-vision by loading the vapor with custom scents that compliment the on-air action.

Like most crazy new technologies, Displair is still in its infancy. Those at CES got to see it in action though, and even played around with it for a bit. Check out Huffington Post’s Jason Gilbert playing a round on Fruit Ninja on Displair. It’s absolutely wild.
