(Elizabeth Gilbert)

THREE BEST ENTREPRENEUR BOOKS WRITTEN BY WOMEN
Entrepreneurship was once considered to be male dominant. However, gender diversity in leadership roles has increased in popularity and now more women are starting to own companies. There are some wise entrepreneurship ideas developed and practiced by women, which can inspire any individual in many ways. Below are our most recommended books:
- Grit: Passion, Perseverance, and the Science of Success
by Angela Duckworth
Grit is the key to entrepreneurial success. The people who ‘make it’ may not have the brightest talent or most resources, but they are required to have focused persistence. These people continually work toward their goal and make incremental improvements day after day. This is what Grit is all about. Angela Duckworth, who is a pioneering psychologist, shares a great story about the winding path of the daughter of a scientist, who considered herself lacking in intelligence. She concluded that what drives success is not being a genius, but a special blend of passion and long-term perseverance.
- The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance—What Women Should Know
by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman
Women today are well educated and qualified yet men still dominate in the workplace. The confidence code suggests that self-confidence is a major factor that drives an entrepreneur to great success. There are many behaviors related to confidence that we need to stress less over, such as over-preparation and excessive consulting, before action would limit our gain in entrepreneurship.
- Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear
by Elizabeth Gilbert
Pressure can sometimes push us to keep working and improving, but when it turns to fear, it limits our creativity and our ability to handle difficulties. Gilbert teaches us how to embrace our curiosity and let the needless fear go. Whether you are finding a solution for your business or you simply want to deal with life problems, Big Magic will be an essential read for you.
We completely understand that entrepreneurship would never be an easy way to go, so let’s read and equip ourselves.

Why Not Uber in Hong Kong?
Uber in Hong Kong
Uber has become one of the worlds most, if not the most, trusted brands in transportation. However, Hong Kong does not allow it to operate on their lands. Why?
For one, Uber follows the sharing economy model that Hong Kong doesn’t seem like. Other companies using the same gig economy model, like Airbnb, are banned from Hong Kong as well.
It also seems like Hong Kong does not want to change their current taxi system. Currently, the value of a taxi license is around $6.5 million HKD each, generating a lot of money for the government. Unfortunately for cab drivers, customers around the world have shown a preference for Uber and other ridesharing apps over taxis, citing better value and customer service. If Uber becomes legal, the value of taxi licenses would drastically drop. Holding onto this source of revenue might be the reason why Uber is not allowed.
This is a shame. Uber provides many locals with a way to get a little extra cash, work more flexible hours, and be their own bosses. But these people are not willing to break the law to be drivers because the government is cracking down on them with persecution and fines.
At least Hong Kong has overall great transportation including swift mini-buses, inexpensive taxis, and a punctual MTR system. The MTR is very convenient to use, especially when traveling to either our Wanchai or SheungWan locations!
