Improve cash flow

There are three steps you can take to create payment terms that will improve your cash flow.

The first is to negotiate payment dates to align inflows with outflows. By creating a time slot in which your customers must pay, you can almost always ensure an on-time payment. An example could be, how to do this is to make your customer pay three days before you are supposed to pay the supplier. This is a good way to optimize your cash flow.

Secondly, try to reduce your payment term to encourage customers to make their payment earlier. If you make the time they have to pay shorter, it could make a huge difference in the number of people paying on time.

And finally, to create recurring payment methods to encourage your customers to pay on time. An example of this would be creating a subscription service where the customers pay on a recurring basis.

A debit card, also called ATM card, is simply used to withdraw cash, pay by card and in a few cases pay online. Although most of the time, you need a credit card for online payments.

A debit card is granted at opening your personal/professional bank account. You are freely able to use them in Hong Kong banks and ATM machines.

Internationally, a debit card can also be used with ATM machines, but only the ones that are Union Pay or Jetco. If you see one of these symbols on the ATM machine, then you can use your Hong Kong debit card.

How to make payments in DBS IDEAL Hong Kong bank

DBS IDEAL Payments

Users of DBS IDEAL are provided with four ways to easily make online payments:

Transfer Wizard
Copy
Templates
File Upload

We will underneath explain the four different payment instruments. We added pictures in order to provide the reader with a better understanding of the processes.

Transfer Wizard (illustrated at the top of the picture)

The first instrument guides the user to select the preferred payment type.

Select your bank account to debit from, choose bank to send payment to and payment
Transfer Wizard will show the available Payment Types for your use

Copy (Illustrated at the right side of the picture)

In the left side of the screen, you can select the transaction you wish to copy from the Transfer Centre
The copy function in the right bottom allows you to create a copy of the selected transaction

Templates (Illustrated at the left in of the picture)

Users of DBS IDEAL can create templates for recurring payments and utilize them in the future.

In order to reach to templates, you have to press the following: Payments à Tools à Templates.

You can create a template by selecting your payment type from the dropdown list (press to see them)
Use your templates for making payment

File Upload (Illustrated at the bottom of the picture)

The last of the four payment instruments is File Upload.

You reach File Upload by pressing: Payments à File Transfer à Upload Profiles.

How to use mobile banking in DBS IDEAL

Mobile banking

DBS IDEAL Mobile app can be a great tool in your busy work life. The app allows you to log in with just your PIN. This makes it easy and fast for you to view your banking information such as account balances and cheque status easily. Also, you can make payments very quickly and approve them anytime and anywhere.

Before you can get started with the above, you have to download the IDEAL mobile application from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

When you have downloaded the app, then you have to log in with your existing user ID and PIN to view balance and cheque status. In the main menu, you will find the following options:

Accounts
Cheques
Payments

When you click “Account” in the main menu, then you can view your account balances. Click “Cheques” and then you will find Mobile Approvals and “Payment” is simply Cash & Payments.

DBS IDEAL cheques: A guide to how you can manage your cheques

For users of DBS IDEAL, the Cheque Status Search (as illustrated below) will automatically fetch and display all your cheques in historical order, including Payee Name, Amount and Customer Reference. Also, users can initiate a Stop Cheque request immediately from the Cheque Inquiry screen.

Following two steps are necessary to know in order to fully use Cheque Status Search:
