HOW TO KNOW YOURSELF BETTER (a tip from Aristotle)

Aristotle

Aristotle used to say: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Try this. For a week, put a small camera facing you during working time and turn it on for a few hours a day, or simply a mirror. Try to watch yourself, paying attention to the smallest habits and see what you do and how you behave during working time.  It may help you spot bad habits to get rid of and pick up good ones to nurture.

NEED FOR SPEED? EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IS ALMOST NEVER FAST

need for speed

Speed is the ultimate goal in our everyday lives. We aim to have breakfast faster, work out faster, het ready for work faster and get to the office faster. And this increasing speed in encourages by our colleagues, bosses and family members.

Yet, when it comes down to communication – forget speed and focus on effectiveness. We often see how rushed communication can create misunderstandings, problems and bring projects months behind.

So next time you are giving instructions or just discussing a current project, remind yourself to slow down and make sure your message is not just voiced, but also understood

PROBLEM-SOLVING TIP!

withanidea

The more you know, the less time will be spent in double-checking and consultations. Once you face a problem and invite outside help to solve it, try to remember every detail of the problem-solving process. So next time you face the same issue – you will not panic and know exactly what to do (or maybe even be able to solve it yourself). Do not blindly rely on outside help – keep your eyes (an memory) focused.

Attention to detail and self-awareness are you best problem-solving companions!
