UBER Experience with Josephine Lau
UBER, everyone’s personal driver, launched in Shenzhen only a few weeks ago and Josephine was eager to try what everyone was talking about.
UBER is a downloadable app, that allows you to, as they say, travel in style. All you have to do is to press a button, indicating where you have to go, wait from 5 to 7 minutes and watch a luxury car with a private driver pull up in front of you.
What are the perks?
– No money exchange (the payment is made via Credit Card, PayPal or Alipay.
– Wi-fi, phone-charger and bottled water in the car salon
– The driver will address you by name and open the door for you with a welcoming smile
As UBER explains, the idea came to its founders in San Francisco, when they were tired of waiting for a taxi after a party. Since that day, UBER has spread over 32 countries.
Josephine took the ride early in the morning on the way to a business event and on the way back. It was a pleasant, hassle-free experience which gave her a chance to recharge her phone and take a few fun photos.

I Am Applying For The Right of Abode in Hong Kong With No Professional Help. What Documents Should I Provide?
Below is the general list of the documents you will require:
1) A copy of your resume
2) A full copy of all passports held during the previous seven year period
3) Copies of salaries tax returns for the last seven years
4) Copy of residential tenancy agreements (for renters) or land registry record of your residence (for property owners) for the seven years prior to submitting the application
5) Copies on utilities bills, bank and credit card statements and other papers which attest to a consistent period of residence in Hong Kong for the requisite seven years.
6) A copy of your Smart Hong Kong Identity Card
7) Detailed supporting letter which sets out the chronology of your life in Hong Kong
8) Statement of Travel Records (HKID form ID697) and,
9) The ROP 145 and ROP 146 application forms.
I Am Planning To Apply For An Employment Visa in Hong Kong. Is There A Minimum Salary Requirement?
The HKImmD expects a foreigner, seeking an employment visa in Hong Kong to perform, at minimum, supervisory duties.
This calls for an employment that is valued at HKD 200,000 annually.
However, don’t take 200,000, divide it by 12 and aim for a monthly salary of HKD 16, 670.
No, the HKD 200, 000 amounts to the total value of the employment each year.
For example,
Salary – XXXX
Employer MPF Contribution – XXXX
Guaranteed Bonus – XXXX
Medical Benefits – XXXX
Travel Allowance – XXXX
Meal Allowance – XXXX
Etc – XXXX
Total – 200,000
This provides more flexibility when the monthly cash salary is on the lower end of the scale, but the true cost of employment does reach the threshold for visa approval.
