CHINA-HONG KONG BORDER SCHEUDLES TO REOPEN

Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced on 7th December 2021, there is a schedule to reopen China and Hong Kong border. The government is working to set quotas for business people in different sectors. And Hong Kong will prioritize quarantine-free travel for business people when its China border reopens. However, the actual schedule and the plan is not rolled out yet.

Border Control Points

Meanwhile, most of the border control points are closed. The Security Bureau will consider the usage of relevant border control points in deciding whether

  • to extend the opening hours, and
  • to reopen more points

Furthermore, the Security Bureau will use the existing Road-Based Land Crossing ports. While the Rail-Based ports are still suspending.

Hong Kong Health Code

With the Hong Kong Health Code set to open for registration on Friday. Lam also called on citizens not to register for it unless there is an urgent need.

Start on 9th December, Hong Kong people are compulsory to use LeaveHomeSafe app to record your visits. And the record had fulfilled the basic conditions to restart cross-border travel. Afterward, Hong Kong will introduce a mainland-style Hong Kong health code.

In the meantime, the Omicron variant has spread all over the world. However, Hong Kong takes an aggressive approach to ban the virus flowing into the community.  Thus, there is no effect on quarantine-free travel plan.
