Problem: According to Georgetown University Centre, back pain is actually the major reason for missed work for adults of ages. And that is not surprising: sitting for hours on end, especially with bad posture can be devastating. But bad posture goes beyond the common slouching – sitting up straight and curving your back too much can also cause lower back pain.
Prevention: Be aware of your posture at work. You can even pit a post-it to your desk to remind you of it.
Get regular exercise and strengthen your abdominal muscles to relive some of the pressure on your lower back.
This may sound funny, but having too fat a wallet in your back pocket can be a bad thing as well – for your back. Sitting on a large wallet can put pressure on the sciatic nerve, causing sharp back pain.
